Start with a domain or subdomain you control
Open Branded domains and enter a hostname such as go.yourbrand.com. A subdomain can keep your existing main website in place. Enter the hostname only, without https:// or a path.
You need access to the domain’s DNS settings. NILO supplies the records to add; it does not register a domain or ask for your registrar password.
Verify ownership with the supplied TXT record
- Choose “Connect domain” to get the unique ownership record for this workspace.
- At your DNS provider, add the exact TXT name and value shown in NILO.
- Return to NILO and check the connection status. DNS changes may take time to become visible.
- Leave the ownership record in place so the domain remains verifiable.
Wait for routing and HTTPS to become active
Ownership verification and hosting activation are separate steps. Follow any routing and certificate records shown in the domain panel, then check the status again.
The domain is selectable for new links only after ownership, routing, and its HTTPS certificate are active. If NILO shows that custom-domain hosting still needs activation, your TXT record alone cannot complete it. Contact support with the hostname; do not send passwords or private DNS account access.
Choose the connected domain when creating a link
Create a short link or dynamic QR code, then choose the connected hostname in Domain before saving. Its domain and short address remain fixed, while its destination can be edited later.
Branded domains serve link redirects. Connecting one does not move your NILO sign-in, private workspace, or public profile onto that domain. Default nilo.my links remain separate.
Check saved links before disconnecting
NILO prevents disconnecting a domain while saved links still use it. Review those links and the sharing materials that depend on them before changing DNS or domain registration.
Removing routing records or letting a domain expire can break shared addresses. A domain name and a downloaded QR image do not by themselves guarantee that the destination remains available.
Questions about this guide
Why is my TXT record verified but the domain still unavailable?
The TXT record proves ownership. The domain also needs working routing and an active HTTPS certificate. Review the separate statuses in NILO; if hosting activation is outstanding, contact support.
Can I change a saved link from nilo.my to my custom domain?
No. The namespace is fixed when a link is created. Create a new link on the connected domain and review any existing shared addresses before replacing them.
